While other people were contemplating tucking into the unloved sweets at the bottom of the Quality Street tin, or finding their resolve starting to waiver less that forty eight hours after making their new year resolution's, Liam & Sonya were spending their second day of 2017 in the company of their family & friends as they married in the Church of Ease, Fahan; before making their way to the Silver Tassie for their reception. An Irish wedding is always going to be somewhat at the mercy of the weather, but at their most optimistic I doubt the happy couple would have expected the early morning cloud to clear, revealing the day's blue sky, that would have made a summer's day jealous. Although the chiily winds at An Grianan soon reminded us it was indeed a winter wedding! Enough from me - here are some highlights from their day - feel to comment & share. It's a bit of thing these days for photographers to finish the year with a round up blog; a chance to look back at their year that was. My personal twist seems to be always posting it a couple of weeks later than i'd hoped to! Although this year with good reason - as my first wedding of the year already is already done & dusted.
It was only when having a look back over the year that it dawned on me that this'll be my first yearly review with no Essential Hotels content - ending three years of a great working relationship with Nick and the Essential family. It was a working relationship that enabled me to make the step from a hobbyist photographer to something more. Ironically my last Essential assignment at the end of 2015 involved a trip to Stockholm, that doubled up as a chance to attend the inaugrual Way Up North Wedding Photography event - unaware at the time that Wedding Photography was about to usurp Travel Photography as my main interest. So to kick the year off here's a few 2016 wedding (with a bit of creative license for the last bride & groom) photos... and hopefully it'll not be too long of a wait for the next post, as my new year resolution, or to be more honest, my new year vague promise to myself, is to blog here a bit more often!! |
