Did you realise that when you've just celebrated your Big Sixth birthday letting your mum cut your hair is no longer the cool option... particularly when you have your heart set on emulating the hairstyle of your favourite Youtuber... (Dan TDM in case you're curious!)... So it was time for a Daddy & Son visit to the Man Cave... (I should add a very successful visit too, as have been subsequent ones - the MiniDan look is coming on well)
It was only when I started gathering photographs together from this post that I realised how much, photographically, I'd crammed into 2015. Unfortuately I also realised how bad I am at curating my own photos for a post like this one!
There's a natural flow to blogging a wedding or a big event; especially when each has it's own story to tell. However telling the story of my own year, with amazing weddings spread across Derry, Donegal and Strabane, the three C's of Christenings, Communioins & Confirmations, famly fun days, our Essential Hotels travels and working with fantastic local businesses such as Pretty Elegant Cakes, PieceMakers, Wafer & Secondline NI, not so much so...but thanks again to each & every person who put their faith in me, and kept things interesting!
Here's what I've come up with anyway; a fairly eclectic collectionn of photographs, which hopefully go some way to showing what I have been up to.
Aidan arrived home from school with a new friend - Custard, the Alien from Outer Space - who'd arrived at Nursery School a few days earlier... homework was to have fun and take some photos along the way... so here's how we got on...
So it was a normal day in nursery... except for the strange box in the corner... when the teachers and children finally plucked up the courage to open it they were surprised, and delighted, to find the schools old friends, Fudge & Custard From Outer Space - back for another visit.
Emma was over the moon (get it!) to be the first person to get to look after fudge for the weekend... and I was over the moon that the teachers asked me would I mind taking a few photos of Emma & Fudges adventures...
Here's the story so far!!!
The recent good (and freakily) dry weather was enough of a temptation to load the car and head for a wee Sunday morning family photo shoot in Gransha Woods.
Like most (self appointed) family photographers there are less photos of me than anyone else in the house so the tripod and remote release came along too so I could get in on the action.
It was probably Emma's, and definitely Aidan's first time in the woods proper so we have a load of new experiences to look forward to....
The first rule of walking in the forest is, obviously, be careful not to stand on any fairy houses... a quick chat about who or what else we had to keep our eyes open left us with a list including Tinkerbell and The Fairies who might be visiting from Pixie Hollow, Winnie The Pooh who might have turned up searching for honey after eating the 100 Acre Wood dry, obviously The Three Bears might be about too waiting for their porridge to cool down, and last but not least, the current flavour of the month in our house....
Shrek!! That traditional wood/swamp dweller... so to calls of 'Where are you Shrek'? off we set...
I am a wedding & family photographer based in Derry in the North West of Ireland.
