Documentary Wedding Photography...
Real-Life People Photography...
I provide a relaxed yet professional photography experience throughout Derry, Donegal, and Northern Ireland, serving brides and grooms, families, businesses and creatives, making their experience simple and stress-free.
My photography approach is all about authenticity - I'm drawn to photography of people being themselves, rather than than photos of people posing to have their photo taken!! My candid, unobtrusive, people photography allows scenes to unfold as naturally as possible, giving me the opportunity to capture genuine real-life moments with minimal interference. I strongly believe this is the best way to capture people being their true selves, especially those of us for whom being 'centre of attention' isn't our natural state.
So whether you're drawn to documentary-style photography, photojournalism, or simply relaxed candid shots, please explore my portfolio to see if I'm the photographer for you and when you're ready to discuss your photography needs I'd love to hear from you.

"Absolutely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day was getting Patrick... The photos are absolutely amazing and the best bit is we got to spend the day doing our own thing yet getting so many memories in photos. Thank you"

About Me....
Crafting an "About Me" has been a challenge. Why? Because my focus is on your story, not mine.
Photography isn't just about capturing images; it's about preserving memories and telling your unique tale. Whether it's your wedding day, a family shoot, or a special event, my goal is to document the moments that will be full of meaning for you.
My intention is always to be as unassuming and unobtrusive as possible, simply blending in with what's going on while documenting the important moments as they naturally unfold; this allows me to capture the essence of your day without disrupting the flow or atmosphere.
Saying that what you might find relevant is that clients have described me as professional, relaxed, welcoming, accommodating and even calming; or as Donegal Mammy Josie put it 'a lovely person to have in my house.' - a massive compliment from someone who wasn't keen on the thought of a photographer getting under her feet on the morning of a family wedding!!

A more traditional Photographers About me If You're Interested...
If I did go down the more traditional 'About Me' path I'd mention my route from hobbyist to professional photographer coming via unintentionally becoming a travel writer/photographer and hotel reviewer after a few of photographs were 'stolen'; or my photography in childhood story - not the picture-perfect being bequeathed a old vintage camera tale - no, mine was of a crying baby keeping his older brother awake until the point of my cot being unceremoniously lifted, in the night, and moved to the spare room - aka my Dad's fairly well-equipped photography dark room; the most conventional part of my journey was when becoming a father myself gave me the impetus to get into 'proper' photography to keep alive the memories of the many different stages of my kids childhoods...
Chatting about the music, tv, films music & books photographers love also seems to be the done thing in about me's - sooo....
TV wise I have a contrary streak where I'll not watch something while it's the in-thing - I only started both Breaking Bad and The Sopranos after their finale's had aired! My younger-self's love of the Simpsons means I've yet to come across a real life situation where I can't add an appropriate anecdote from the show. And I'd happily watch Flight of the Conchords on repeat - despite initially being unsure if it was the best, or the worst thing I'd ever seen...
Film wise I see myself as a Coen Brother's fan - but quiz me and it'll become clear that I consider The Big Lebrowski & Oh Brother Where Art Thou? as among their recent releases. On the other hand ask me anything about Disney, Pixar, or more lately Marvel movies from the last 15 years, and I'll know stuff I didn't realise I know! (if you're a parents I'm sure you'll relate...)
Books - I've always wanted to be more of a fiction reader, but never quite get around to it - I do have a lot of love for photobooks - with Joel Meyerowitz, Where I Find Myself, Niall McDiarmid, Town to Town and Tatsuo Suzuki's Fricton/Toyko Street among my recent favourite buys (my inner monologue is urging me to move on here before I head down a photobook rabbit hole...)
Musically I've followed the lesser travelled gen x'er path of teenage hip-hop fan to a John Prine-listening dad via The Pogues, Jack Johnson, and David Kitt; with a CD collection that while not reaching embarrassing levels, also never ever threatened 'cool' territory.. saying that I did earn a wee bit of street-cred recently singing (probably not the most appropriate verb) along to Killing in the Name of side by side with my teenager at a Rock Orchestra Concert... These days I have a tendency to start podcast rather than music on longer drives- with The Blindboy Podcast, Scroobius Pips' Distraction Pieces, or anyone of a number of photography-related listens being the go-tos...
Anyway, rest assured I'm moved on from the crying the house down stage, and I'll keep my slightly dodgy music to myself on the drive between locations... (hip-hop in the morning, some folky-stuff on the way home...)

Two shots from the other side of my camera - one of the extra benefits of being asked to photograph at the Learning to Fly Wedding Photographers Annual Retreat is the presence of some of the best photographers in Ireland (and beyond,) these shots of me were taken by John Gillooley and Kevin Keffache
"A wonderful & perfect record of our day.
I cried and laughed going through these - so many wee details we would not have seen if you were not there... Thank you from the bottom of our hearts"
