The Old Rectory Killyman Wedding Photography - Anita & Andrew's County Tyrone Wedding Blessing1/7/2023 Technically Anita & Andrew married the previous weekend in London - but sure why would you pass up the opportunity to have a wedding blessing too, with the chance to bring Tyrone and Mayo families together for an extra day of celebrations - especially when you have your own in-family priest at the ready...)
It's really reassuring when I get an enquiry that comes with a gut feeling that my style is exactly what someone is after for their wedding photography - as was the case when I first read that Anita & Andrew were keen to have the afternoon of their wedding blessing documented in a candid, and informal, way... The icing on the wedding (too cheesy?... ah sure I've typed it now so it stays) cake was the fact they had booked The Old Rectory, Killyman - a venue I hadn't previously shot at, but one I knew would be ideal for the day that was planned... as I'd hoped it was an absolute delight to work at thanks to Emma, Paul & all their great staff... the afternoon featured the odd rain shower, but it was in no way detrimental with umbrella's available at every doorway, with Paul as often as anyone else also on hand with more ready to pass around if needed... The cherry on top of the icing on the wedding cake (would you stop already, that doesn't even make sense, who puts cherry on a wedding cake??) was finding out that The Flamin' Outback were providing a super laidback, BBQ style, meal... I was initially happy knowing this would give plenty of extra opportunities to continue shooting over a more formal sit-down meal; but over and above that the food itself being on another level, on top of that well-known BBQ smell wafting around the gardens... it'd have been hard to single out any one thing on the menu for a mention, bar the beetroot burgers which were so good some people ate them without realise they weren't 'real' burgers (we'll not name names though, that wouldn't be fair on Paul...) Oh, one last anecdote before the photos, and there's no way to make this one not sound made up... people of a certain vintage will either know the old TV show Stars in Their Eyes, or at least the Peter Kay routine based on it... (just thinking now if this didn't make it to RTE half of you will have no idea what I'm going on about...) The story goes that often the singer would regale on how they first discovered they were talented when their parent shouted upstairs to 'Turn down that radio!' Only for the surprised singer to reply 'It's not the radio, it's me singing'... Well it happens for real on our way toward the tee-pee when Anita compliment the playlist that was on, only to be told it wasn't a playlist, it was the band... tonight Matthew, they were Fresh as Folk... Right enough chat, you're only here for a nosey at the photos after all... enjoy & feel free to leave a comment below...

The plan was to have a meet up with Chloe & Gerard at Killahoey Beach, Dunfanaghey, prior to their wedding to capture a few pre-wedding shots, while sorting out the finer details for their big day; with the weather turning out the way it did it seemed the perfect time to also include an impromptu family photoshoot with their two boys...
Aoife & Declan got married - with An Grainan being the ideal location for them to bring family & friends from across Ireland to enjoy a north west wedding - situated in beautiful Donegal but with Derry only a few minutes drove away...
Deirdre, Barney & the An Grainan wedding day team extended their usual exceptional hospitality & the hotel itself provided the perfect all-in-one location for everything from the morning preparation (with Sarah Cox, no not the DJ without a h, the MUA with a h) right through to the evenings entertainment as provided by The Collective & DJ Kevin McGrath via a very personal ceremony lead by Sandra - The Wedding Lady... I was delighted to be able to play a small part in their day as I documented the goings-on with as little fuss or interference from me as possible... If you've read this far fair play - I do know you're really here just for the photos... |
