Despite it only being up the road this year was, shamefully, the first that we attended the amazing Stendhal Festival, Limavady - it definitely won't be our last though, and conversations have already been had on whether we'd travel to & fro, or fully embrace the Stendhal way and camp new year...
As much as it sounds a bit of a cop-out the overall atmosphere was the highlight - from the talent on the many stages, those working hard behind the scenes to enable everything to run as smoothly as it did, and just every other being in the fields helped creat an easy-going, communal-family friendly atmosphere that's hard to put into words... On the stage The Courettes putting their everything into an early evening performance on the Air Stage, and hearing thousands of local voices singing Three Little Birds in unison with The Wailers as darkness fell will live long on the memory... Invaderband played through a microcosm of Fridays weather - with fans alternating between sheltering from heavy rain, and enjoying glorious sun during their set... special mention also to the teenagers from the Nerve Centre who kicked our day off on the Woolly Woodlands stage, and were a credit to their mentors who'd spent the previous three days preparing them for their performances Although I was there essentially on a family day out it would have been rude not to attempt to capture a wee bit of the atmosphere along the way...
